My parents are thinking about moving into a more energy efficient home later on this year.
They have been talking about it for a while now, but they definitely have sentimental ties to the house that they are already living in.
However, the house that they are living in is way too big for just the two of them now that all of my brothers and sisters have moved out. They were actually talking about turning the old house into a bed and breakfast, But I think my dad realized just how much work it was going to be for them and he has kind of decided that he doesn’t want to do that after all. Anyway, now that they have basically decided that they are going to sell the old house, they are in the market for a new more energy efficient home. The main thing that they are looking for is a high efficiency heating and cooling system. My dad absolutely hates having to pay high heating and cooling bills every single month and he wants something that is going to be really cheap. He’s actually looking for a place that has radiant heated flooring and a high efficiency air conditioning system. My mom doesn’t really care about any of that, though. She just wants a place that has really great views and a wood burning fireplace. She told me the other day that she would not mind having radiant heated flooring in the bathrooms, but as long as it has some kind of air conditioning during the summers the rest of it doesn’t matter to her at all.
