I had a scheduled repair on Tuesday and the job was on the south side of town and one of the nice neighborhoods by the beat.
When I got to the neighborhood, I had to speak to a guard at the gate before entering the neighborhood.
The guard at the front of the neighborhood asked me a couple of questions. The guy wanted to know the name of the person that I was visiting and their address. I listened to the guard call the customer on the phone to confirm that I was supposed to be there. The guard let me into the neighborhood and he gave me directions on the easiest way to get to the address. When I arrived at the address, I was happy to see the customer waiting outside on the porch for me. She greeted me in a very nice fashion and I went into the house to start working. The customer called about an issue with the air conditioner. The air conditioner was making a strange sound every time it was running. I evaluated a couple of different things that can cause the strange sound and it did not take very long to find the cause of the noise. I spent two hours trying to fix the problem and the customer was very kind and helpful. She offered me a bottle of cold water and she left me alone to work on the air conditioner. It can be a problem when customers watch me work, because it makes me nervous. I was happy that she decided to leave the room so I could work on my own.
