A couple of years ago, the city approved construction on a brand new neighborhood on the north side of town.
The streets are still dirt and sand and it can be difficult to find the addresses.
Some of the streets are marked with signs and some of the streets still look like driveways. I was an HVAC installation job on Mulberry, and nobody wanted to take the job. My boss asked for volunteers and no one raised their hand. I knew that my coworkers didn’t want to take the job because there is no cell phone service in that part of town yet. I raised my hand and offered to do the HVAC install. My boss was extremely thankful that I raised my hand and volunteered, because he didn’t have to force someone to complete the work. I was actually surprised by the location of the address. It was near the front of the new neighborhood and the house was very easy to find. I would have normally called the customer to let her know that I was on the way, but the cell phone service was spotty. When I got to the address, the customer was waiting outside for me. She showed me into the garage where the HVAC equipment is located. It took several hours to remove the old equipment and prepare the area for the new equipment installation, but I finished in record time. Considering the fact that I was by myself all day, I finished with the installation job in six hours and I didn’t miss anything along the way.
