On the morning of the first day of construction, I received a phone call from the county permit office
My wife and I decided to remodel the bathroom in our condo. It didn’t have a bathtub when we moved into the place. There was a toilet, pedestal sink, and stand up shower stall. The bathroom was suitable when we moved in, but my wife and I missed taking a bath. We contacted a couple of plumbing contractors so we could get estimates to remodel the bathroom. A couple of the plumbing contractors had construction expertise as well and we decided to hire someone that could handle all of the work. After my wife and I made our decision about the plumbing contractor, we chose the date for the remodel. The contractor was booked solid for the next month, but we didn’t plan to start until the spring anyways. I scheduled our remodel for the first week of April. A few days before the appointment, I received a telephone call from the plumbing contractor. He wanted to come to the house to have a final check on the space where he would be working. I was happy to allow the plumber access to my house a couple of days early. On the morning of the first day of construction, I received a phone call from the county permit office. They had some questions about the permit for the remodel and they would not allow the plumber to start on the project until a couple of questions could be cleared up. I did not expect so many issues with this small job and the plumbing changes ended up being a heap of trouble.
