I feel like space heating systems get a bad reputation, when really, they are not all that bad.
- In fact, I have a space furnace and I love mine! I have always been sensitive to cold, and even though I have a central HVAC system, it has never warmed me as much as it should.
I started looking for solutions, and that is when I heard about area heaters. I was immediately interested, but when I told my mother about it, she was immediately against the idea. Apparently she had an area furnace sometime back, and it almost caught on fire! She came in to find it smoking from the outlet and unplugged it before it caused a fire. She warned me to never get a portable heating unit, but I didn’t listen. I did my research first of course, and after asking my mother a few more questions, I realized she was doing some things wrong, and that probably caused the fire. She had two main issues, one, she left the space heating unit on all of the time, and left it unattended. Two, she plugged it in using an extension cord. All of the above it specifically warns you not to do, and so after carefully reading the safety instructions I bought my heating unit, and I have yet to have any issues. I absolutely love my heating device, and it makes me feel bad for anyone who is scared of getting one just because of the stories they’ve heard. I mean, there are horror stories for everything, but as long as you take precaution, you should be fine.
