Mom and dad didn’t tell me the HVAC tech was going to be in the basement when I got home.
I had an efficiency apartment in the basement, and I had been telling mom and dad I was having a problem with my ductless HVAC system.
Mom promised me she would have an HVAC technician at the house before they went on vacation. I walked into the house after class and headed downstairs. I screamed so loud that my heart was pounding when I saw a pair of dark blue eyes peering at me over the furnace. Even the HVAC tech jumped and when he did, he bumped his head. I helped him to get from behind the furnace and to sit down. I asked him how he got into the house? He told me my mom had let him in and told him I would be home shortly. We sat and talked for a couple minutes before he remembered he had a job to complete. He had a new ductless HVAC system in the service van. He told me there was a recall on the ductless HVAC system I had in the basement, which is why I was having problems. He brought a new system with him and once he removed this one, it could be connected and working within an hour. I wanted to tell him to take his time because I was enjoying his company, but he had an HVAC system to install and a service call when he was done. He was getting ready to leave when he turned and asked if I was going to be busy in about two hours. He realized how late it was already getting, but I didn’t have class the next day, so I told him I would be waiting for him to return.
