Doing my best was never as good as the smart thermostat

I’ve always prided myself on not overspending.

Since I was a kid growing up inside the quality heating and air of my parent’s place, I’ve been mindful of money.

I’ve very thankful that my folks actually helped me understand finance from a young age. This made it so much easier for me to live with a budget and live within my means. And that’s not always the case when you’re young and you have your first real job. I took a job inside a downtown office building that had the best commercial HVAC. The company I worked for was the company I interned for and the same company I work for all these years later. But because I stuck to a budget, I was able to avoid the credit card debt and all that other stuff that many young people fall into. Instead, I stuck to my budget and was able to get a house in my early 30’s. And that’s when I really started paying attention to the cost of heating and cooling. Where I live, it’s really more about the HVAC cooling than the heating. So I made sure I knew how to program my digital thermostat so I wasn’t over cooling the house while inside the zone controlled HVAC of the office. And I really got good at it. So good that I thought a smart thermostat in our new house was unnecessary. But my wife convinced me to add this HVAC technology and she sure was right. As good as I was at saving on HVAC cooling costs, the smart thermostat is just so much better.
