It was a slow day at the office, and my colleague focused all his attention on the phone.
After a while, I noticed that he was still on his phone, which was strange since Ben was not the type of person to be glued to his phone for so long.
He surprised me by saying he was learning how to reset his new digital thermostat remotely. Ben had recently installed a new air conditioning unit in his home, and according to what he told me, he was pleased with it. The air conditioning company that had done the installation was where his friend is an a/c worker. I knew from our conversation that Ben was very keen on his a/c care plan, even with the old unit, and always called the a/c representative on time. On the other hand, I still had an air conditioner installation from the previous century. Even with my a/c care and yearly professional a/c service, it was still threatening to quit. I was curious to see what he was talking about. Ben showed me the application on his phone where he could not only change the temperature settings, she could even switch off her air conditioner seated on his desk. I was impressed by the technology and started thinking about changing my thermostat. The most I had done was keep up with the annual air conditioning maintenance, and I couldn’t remember the last time I called the air conditioning supplier for something new, even to at least improve the indoor air quality. If the air conditioning business depended on customers like me, they would have gone bankrupt. Their only saving grace would be that such old systems require regular a/c repair.
