My mom was watching the kids for a couple of hours so I could run some errands.
I went to the market to buy bread, milk, and butter.
I went to the bakery to pick out fresh bagels and rolls. I went to the dry cleaner to pick up my husband’s suits. He was out of town on business and not due back until tuesday. It’s nice to have my mom to help out when he is not home. He does not have to travel frequently, but every other month he goes away for 10 or 14 days at a time. I did not expect to get a phone call from my mom while I was out shopping. I answered the phone and my mom sounded upset. She told me that the house was getting hotter and she believed that the air conditioner was not working properly. I told my mom that I was going to be home in less than an hour and she told me to hurry. When I got home, I checked the thermostat and the breaker. I checked the air filter and the evaporator coils too. There was absolutely nothing I could do to remedy the problem, so I contacted the repair service. I hoped they would be able to give me some good news, but they were convinced that the AC unit could not be repaired this time around. After 11 years, it was time to replace the air compressor and evaporator coils. I was not prepared to make such a huge decision without my husband. It was going to cost several thousands of dollars to make the replacement and I did not want to agree until I had an opportunity to discuss it with my partner.
