Recently, before my HVAC unit broke down, I noticed a pungent smell and a paddle of water under one of the vents.
I have a central air conditioning system that cools air and distributes it throughout the house via vents. I have had the unit for about seven years, and it has been efficient. When the air conditioning experts did the air conditioning install, they advised me to schedule an air conditioning tune-up to maintain the optimal function of the unit. Had it not been for the indoor air cleaning system, I would have died from the pungency of the smell while I waited for the cooling techs to show up to the appointment for three days after contacting the air conditioning business. When the cooling workmen finally came by, they started by examining the cooling product. They then identified a blockage in one of the vents, and upon further inspection, they found a rodent had crawled into the vent, tried to build a home but had died in there, which explained the awful smell. They cleaned the ducts and changed the air filters. They also worked on other parts of the quality air conditioner as part of the air conditioning repairs. Even though the damage seemed extensive because of the leak and smell, it took the professionals about two hours to complete the air conditioning service. To prevent a repeat of the case with the rodents, the technicians sealed off the vents with a porous material that could allow airflow. I still can smell the dead rodent from my aroma memory, but I hope I will soon forget it.
