A visit to the prison as an air conditioning expert

Working as an air conditioning expert has brought me much joy and fulfillment. I grew up watching my dad build his air conditioning business. He told me stories about how his job took him to different places, from politicians’ residences to high-end hotels and hospitals. The most treasured gratification, however, was when he saw the smile on people’s faces whenever he provided air conditioning services. Helping people and his love for HVAC units were what had drawn him to a career with cooling products. My first job involved a time-consuming air conditioning install at a children’s home, and I remember how gratifying it was to provide indoor comfort to those children. A few months ago, however, I found myself in prison and not incarcerated, but I was there with my team for a routine air conditioning tune-up of the central air conditioning unit. The warden had called the office and scheduled for the cooling techs to run a routine air conditioning repair on the unit. I remember feeling a bit anxious as we approached the prison. Fortunately, the quality air conditioner was located far from the cells, and there was no way we would have bumped into the inmates. We changed the air filters and replaced a few worn-out parts. Some of the cooling workmen also checked on the indoor air cleaning system to ensure it was functioning correctly. We were in and out of prison within three hours. After we started working on the units, my anxiety faded away. I could not wait to get back to the office and tell dad all about it. He was impressed because he also went through similar reactions when he visited the prison.
