Christmas was supposed to be fun.

Christmas has always been our preferred holiday.

The entire family gathers for a friends and family Christmas get-together the weekend before Christmas.

The family gets together and spend from Christmas Eve eve until New Year’s Day, at our house in the mountains. The house sleeps twenty and is less than an minute from the ski slopes. The two of us have plenty of room for sledding and snowball fights, and there is a fireplace that has enough room for pretty much everyone to gather round and drink boiling chocolate after a long day in the snow. My sisters and I make cookies, and it becomes a festive month for pretty much everyone. The only thing that kept Christmas from being fun this year, was when the HVAC plan went out. It was hard getting an HVAC corporation to come to the cabin. Everyone was enjoying their holiday and didn’t want to travel several minutes to a house that could be snowed in. If it hadn’t been for the fireplace, every one of us all would have frozen… Some of the study rooms had ductless HVAC systems, which made it better for the adults, but the bunk rooms didn’t. The kids threw their mattresses on the floor in the good room and slept in front of the fireplace. The two of us didn’t let a little thing like a broken gas furnace to keep us from enjoying Christmas. Two mornings after Christmas, the HVAC corporation arrived and repaired the gas furnace. The two of us thanked him and sent him condo with cookies for the kids. Our own kids, refused to leave the good room. They were having their own Christmas celebration; sleeping in front of the fireplace and telling ghost stories.
