I should not have let my brother and husband go shopping together.

My brother showed up last week and asked my husband to go shopping with him. He wanted to buy a present for his wife, for their anniversary. I couldn’t figure out why they would go out for a gift for my sister-in-law. The last present they bought her was a fishing pole my brother had been eyeing up for a year. He said he saved her needing to buy it for him, and it didn’t cost her any money. They went shopping last year when they had a huge sale at an old warehouse. It happened to be an abandoned HVAC warehouse, and they bought boxes of air filters that didn’t fit either of our HVAC systems. They also picked up an old canoe that leaked, and brought it home. It was still sitting in my garage. I was worried about what they may be bringing home today. We didn’t need air filters because he was still cutting them to fix our HVAC systems and my brother’s. We didn’t need canoes or fishing gear. When they finally got home, I didn’t see anything in the truck, and they weren’t carrying anything. I thought we had dodged the bullet, and we saved money this time, but I was wrong. They had envelopes in their hands and they were waiting for my sister-in-law to arrive before showing them to us. They were grinning like idiots when Bess walked in. They had planned a vacation for the four us and they went to town to get the tickets before all the good suites were taken. They bought tickets for ocean view suites on a two-week trip to the Bahamas over Christmas.
