I was ready to throw the space heater away.

Last month, I was in a cleaning mode. I had finished cleaning the attic, and I was working in the garage. I came across an old space heater we hadn’t used since we moved into this house. I put the space heater on the discard side of the garage and went inside to make dinner. My husband came inside and asked why the space heater was in the trash pile. I told him it was old, and we didn’t use it anymore. He said the space heater was old, but it had only been used once or twice. He plugged it in and it still worked well. Within a few seconds, it was putting out enough heat that ten minutes later, the garage was warm. He told me we needed to keep that space heater in case something happened to our furnace. Our furnace was only five years old, and I thought it was ludicrous to expect something to happen to it. I was going to sneak the space hater back into the trash, but he was watching me. I put it back into the garage loft and went back inside. Two days ago, my husband was searching for the space heater, because our furnace wasn’t working. He asked me if I had kept it or thrown it away. I went outside and was back inside within minutes, with the space heater in tow. He said he was hoping we wouldn’t need to use it, but he was glad we had it now. I was glad I had forgotten we had it, and not thrown it away.
