I have done a 15 minute yoga routine seven days a week for the past 12 years now.
- I find that 15 minutes a day is all I need and it has given me a lot more flexibility in my joints and muscles.
When I began doing yoga at the local business, I couldn’t touch my toes with my legs together and straight while standing, but now I can literally put my forehead on the shins of my knees and fold completely over like a pretzel. My HVAC pro friend has been doing yoga with me each day and she has gained a ton more flexibility in her body. I have no more lower back pain, which is why I started yoga in the first place, and I can do a lot more movements in volleyball matches that I couldn’t before. When I work on heating and cooling equipment in someone’s house, and I am bent over working on it for a long time, when I stand up again I don’t have that piercing pain in my lower back like I used to have. If you don’t do yoga and you want to, try starting with just one minute a day for a week, and then move up to two minutes the following week, and so on up to 15 or 20 minutes a day. I can carry a big heat pump up many flights of stairs and not suffer the following day like I did before getting into yoga. My HVAC company boss is the next one on my list to get started with it.
