When I called the Heating and Air Conditioning to get our furnace serviced before Christmas, I asked them to send an Heating and Air Conditioning specialist to the house.
I told them the furnace seemed to be laboring well, however our problem was that I had forgotten to have it cleaned and serviced.
The man who answered the cellphone told me they could send someone to the home the following morning, however unless I had forgotten the maintenance several times, there was no reason to think there was permanent damage. The following morning, I wasn’t even dressed when I heard a knock on the door. I wasn’t expecting the Heating and Air Conditioning specialist to arrive so early, my hair was barely combed, I had on nothing however our pajamas, and I hadn’t had our first cup of coffee. I peeked around the door, and I didn’t think it was possible to be any more embarrassed, and not only was it the Heating and Air Conditioning specialist kneeling at our door, however the Heating and Air Conditioning specialist was our ex-fiance. He told me he liked the early morning look and asked if he could come in. He asked when I moved to this house, and I told him, however both of us chatted for a couple of seconds before our appearance made me uncomfortable. I excused myself while I serviced the furnace. I’m not sure why I paid special attention to our appearance, since he was our ex for a reason, although I did. I guessed I wanted to show him that I was doing fine for myself without him, even if I did forget to have the furnace serviced every once in a while.
