Some people look at silence as something scary that you have to make it through, but I see it as relaxing and refreshing.
I spend some time alone and have figured out that if I make it enjoyable then it helps me as a person to grow and become a better version of myself.
I used to fill in all silence with noise of some kind, but now that I am old I see silence as a friend who helps calm and soothe me, making me a more patient person in the process. I do HVAC equipment jobs on my own sometimes and I find I work better when it is quiet, as I can think more clearly and operate more efficiently. I was a process engineer back in the Valley in Cali and I learned how to make things work more efficiently, including life. Life is a process, just like heating or cooling a room is a process, and it can be made to run more efficiently if you break things down to their simpler components. I used to work in a manufacturing plant back in the Valley and learned how to make the processes run as quickly and efficiently as they could. I use the same techniques when working on HVAC systems or programming smart thermostats for customers, and it makes for an easier day at work when you do so. Today I am going to just clean the HEPA filter for a customer so they know how to do it next time, so it should be a very easy day for me.
