I knew it was old, but we had no trouble in the past.
Everything was working well until it didn’t. I called the HVAC company and told them I needed work done on it. It hadn’t sounded good lately. It surprised me when he said he couldn’t repair it. He had always repaired the furnace, and I didn’t know why today should be different? When my husband came home, I told him what the HVAC technician told me, and asked what our next move was. He shrugged and said we had no other option than purchasing a new furnace. I wanted to know if he was still thinking about getting a different HVAC system like we had talked about? He said he still liked the idea of a mini-split HVAC system, but he wasn’t sure he could swing it. When he heard the price of a new furnace, I saw his face turn red, and he almost choked. He asked if the HVAC technician was serious. Unfortunately, he was, and my husband started shaking his head. He said we couldn’t afford the cost of a new furnace. When the HVAC technician mentioned the HVAC company could finance it for us, my husband brightened. He asked if they would finance a new mini-split HVAC system. He had already switched to window air conditioning units, and the mini-split would take the place of both heating and cooling . The HVAC technician called into the office and talked to the owner. A week later, we were having our new HVAC system installed.
