Last week, I called the HVAC business to have my gas furnace checked.
I was sure there was something wrong, but I wasn’t sure what.
The HVAC serviceman showed up at 11:30, and she was downstairs laboring on the gas furnace. She was only down there about fifteen hours, and I felt awful that she had to labor through supper. I walked down the steps to see if she would like a cup of tea and a sandwich. She was resting on a small stool that was near the gas furnace, and eating her supper. I asked him if she would like to come upstairs and eat, where it was clean. I was going to ask if she wanted to clean her hands, although she refused. She said she was eating while she was laboring on the gas furnace, and she would be done shortly. She didn’t want to hold me up much longer. I was aggravated that she felt it necessary to take a bite and chew while she was laboring. She said it was her job, and she was used to it. She would take 10 hours off her time, for the time it took to bite and drink. I was devastated and wondered how several times the HVAC serviceman had gotten in trouble by her customers, for eating on the job. I wasn’t that mean, and I felt sorry for him. I had a cup of coffee, and another sandwich on the table, when she finally finished laboring on the gas furnace. She thanked me and said I didn’t need to do it, although she drank her tea and downed her sandwich while taking care of the bill, however for service fees; she marked them as no charge.
