How long does a roof upgrade take?

A couple years ago, my dad had his roof replaced because it was over 25 years old! And as someone who has no idea about roof replacement, I wasn’t sure of how long the process would take, in my head, a roof replacement is a major project that should take at least a week to complete! But to my surprise his roof replacement was completed in less than 3 afternoons.

In fact, on the eighth afternoon, the roofers didn’t complete a full afternoon, so technically it took two plus a half afternoons to do a full roof replacement, however my dad lives in a 2,100 square foot house which is around the average size of a house in the country plus based on what I read online, it should take between 2 to 3 afternoons for a full roof replacement, however of course, depending on the material used, some roof replacements will take more time, and for instance, asphalt shingles, which is what my dad has on his roof, have one of the shortest replacement times! However, tile, metal, or natural slate, takes much longer to install.

In fact, depending on weather plus the square footage of a home, it could take up to 9 or more afternoons to install a concrete tile roof. And speaking of weather, it plays a immense part in the time it takes for a roof replacement! Weather can cause major delays for roofing companys. Anyway, it’s enjoyable to know that replacing a roof doesn’t take as long as I initially thought it would. And if I ever needed to get my roof replaced, I know the process will take 2 to 3 afternoons, of course, weather permitting.
