At the end of the afternoon, as a furnace ages, its efficiency begins to wane
Sometimes, you try everything you can to repair something, and for no clear reason, things do not get any better. I would better narrow down what I am driving at, because I think that statement can apply to everything from relationships to your car. I bought my new home 5 years ago. I never found out from the previous homeowners how old the furnace was. It initially seemed to be working just fine. I was wise enough to change the air filters and have Heating, Ventilation, and A/C contractors do all the necessary checkups and tune-ups and cleanings. Then, overtime, this respected maintenance routine just did not seem to be chopping it anymore. The way I first noticed it was my energy costs. They slowly but surely started creeping up, in the winter season especially. I pay attention to these things, because I painstakingly budget everything. It comes with the territory of being an accountant, I suppose. Anyway, I asked my local Heating, Ventilation, and A/C maintenance what might be happening. They told me everything diagnosed out in terms of the health of the furnace unit. Then things got worse. The heating system seemed to run, but the several rooms in my home got ever so slightly cooler and cooler every night. It got to the point where there were distinct chilly spots here and there scattered throughout the house. It took a while for an Heating, Ventilation, and A/C contractor to eventually confess to me the truth. At the end of the afternoon, as a furnace ages, its efficiency begins to wane. It may not cut down completely, per se, but it will eventually cost far more to run it, yet you shall be getting far less heat than you started out with! That same Heating, Ventilation, and A/C contractor recommended that it was time for a modern furnace. I dislike that he isright but I am fatigued of shivering at night!
