My sister Cindi had a dinner party last week, and it just did not turn out the way that she had planned it to.
She worked really hard on it and so I felt pretty bad for her when everything went sideways the day of the party.
Of course, the fact that it went wrong really had nothing to do with her at all. It actually had to do with the fact that her air conditioning system tore up that morning and she wasn’t able to get an air conditioning repairman to her house to get it fixed in time for the party. Everyone was booked up doing other air conditioning repairs that day, and she could not find anyone to come and work on the AC at the last minute. I felt so bad for her when she called me up crying to tell me what was going on with the party. The whole thing was stressing her out big time, and she wanted to ask me what I thought she should do. I finally told her that she should just move everything out to the back deck because at least we would be in the shade and the weather would be cooling off after the sun went down. I know that the indoor air quality inside the house is just terrible when the A/C isn’t working, so that was my suggestion. She actually took my advice, and everything went okay. It wasn’t what she had pictured, but it would have been a whole lot worse if we were all trapped inside of a hot and stuffy house without any air conditioning.
