Our cousins live up in the mountains and they don’t have air conditioning in their house.
They say that they would rarely ever need it and so they just never had it installed in their house up there. When they first told me about this, I was really shocked. After all, we grew up in a part of the country where the air conditioning is basically the most important thing that there is in the house. My cousins grew up right down the street from me, and they always thought the same thing. Until they moved away a couple of years ago, air conditioning was a huge part of their lives. So whenever I was planning a trip out to visit them, my one cousin warned me that they don’t have air conditioning in their new house. When she first told me that, I was flabbergasted. I had no idea that they were living up there in the mountains without air conditioning. It was the weirdest thing that I had ever heard of. I guess coming from the place where we grew up, air conditioning is just as common as breathing. You have to have air conditioning during the summer time because the heat is just oppressive without it. As far as I knew, they had moved to a place that was very much like the place that we all grew up. However, according to her, the mountains are completely different. She said that it’s nice and cool most of the time and there’s lots of shade everywhere. She said that even if they did have central air conditioning in their new house, they probably would not ever use it.
