My grandmother has decided that she wants to move into a local retirement village and I told her that I would help her get her house ready to sell.
However, the realtor told us that before we even thought about putting the house on the market, we needed to put in a new HVAC system.
I guess my grandma’s HVAC system is pretty old and outdated and nobody wants to buy a house if it doesn’t have a high quality, high efficiency HVAC system in it anymore. At least, that is what the realtor told us. I honestly can’t say that I totally trust this person because I have never worked with this particular realtor before. However, I guess he knows what he’s talking about since he is a professional in the realty business. I just don’t understand why it’s so important to have a new HVAC system and my grandma’s house before we put it on the market. It seems like we could go ahead and list it and see if we get any interest without a new HVAC system being installed in it. I guess the realtor is just trying to get top dollar for my grandma and also because of the commission that he is going to get from selling it! I don’t know. Either way, I guess we are going to have to go ahead and start working with a local HVAC company to get the heating and cooling system replaced. My grandma told me that she also wants to get the duct work professionally cleaned in the house so we can put that on the listing information sheet as well.
