Calling the HVAC company was always a crap shoot.
- You never knew who you were going to get as an HVAC technician, and if they were going to be seasoned or fresh out of HVAC school.
The owner of the HVAC company was an instructor at the local HVAC school. He would take some of his students into his business and teach them through his mentorship program. There were at least three people out of each class that were invited for his mentorship program. I was used to not having the same HVAC technician more than once, but I wasn’t prepared for the man that showed up last week. He seemed to have a special interest in my home, from the moment he pulled into the driveway. He was looking around when he got out of the service van, and touching the porch. When he rang the doorbell, I waited for him to show me his HVAC ID badge. I asked if there was something wrong with my home? He hesitated and then laughed. He said he used to own this house, and he felt like he was coming home. He lost the house in the divorce. He asked if I was enjoying the HVAC system? When he installed it, it was top of the line. I told him the HVAC system was wonderful, and I just had a minor problem. I got the air filter stuck inside the furnace. He laughed and headed to the basement. He said his ex-wife often did the same thing, and he could retrieve it in minutes.
