We are letting my dad come to move in with us next month.
He had some minor surgery on both of his knees and so he isn’t really able to take the best care of himself right now.
He certainly is not in any shape to be going up and down the stairs at his own house right now. He is thinking about staying with us for the next six months or so because our house is all one floor and we can help him out whenever he needs it. My dad isn’t one of those guys who wants to be taken care of, though, so I doubt he will be here any longer than he absolutely has to be. He is pretty darn independent, even more so now that he is getting older, I think! Anyway, I don’t really foresee many problems with him living here with us aside from the fact that we might end up having some issues with the temperature settings on our thermostat. My dad really likes to keep it cold in the house for some reason. I have never been that way, though. During the winter, I keep the thermostat turned up to about 75 degrees most of the time. I just don’t know if my dad is gonna be able to stand that! We might have to put in zone control heating and cooling in the guest suite for him because he likes to keep the temperature so cold. Either that, or we may need to close the heating vents in his room altogether and just let him open the windows or something whenever he feels like it!
