I was laboring on the automobile when I heard my child yelling out the window, then she told me there was something wrong with the fish tank.
The bubbles were coming from around the heater, & all the fish were at the opposite side of the tank.
She yelled to me & said a couple fish looked like they were trying to jump out. I cleaned the grease off my hands & headed into the house. I couldn’t recognize what I was seeing. The fish were huddled together, & one was really jumping out of the water. He wasn’t trying to jump out, however he was really jumping. I touched the side of the tank & I felt a frisson of electricity go through my fingers. I told my child to unplug the tank & do it suddenly. As soon as she pulled the plugs out, the fish scattered, however not really far. They ended up floating to the top of the tank, & I could see them spasming. The tank heater had gone haywire & the salt water was causing the fish to be electrocuted. My child was crying because the fish tank heater killed her fish, & she wanted to sue the people who created the tank heater. I told her the heater was almost three years old, & things happened. There was salt around the base, & the salt could have caused some malfunctioning. My child looked at me & shrugged. She said it wouldn’t be so awful if they were greater. My friend and I could have had them for supper..
