Too often, I’m convinced that knowing just a little bit or the very basics of something gives me massive insight.
- That’s generally not how it works.
This is certainly not the sort of behavior I display while working inside the zone controlled HVAC of the office day in and day out. I perform massive due diligence on just about every decision, recommendation or investment that has to do with the business. So why would I think meeting with an HVAC contractor once would make me think I knew something about HVAC equipment. Again, this is a case of me being absurdly overconfident with absolutely no reason to be that way. We recently had to replace the HVAC equipment in our home. So of course, my wife and I met with the HVAC professional to talk about our next residential HVAC. It’s not as though we have weird or unusual heating and cooling demands. That’s not the case at all. Still, it was nice to speak with an HVAC professional who asked specific questions about what we wanted in quality heating and air. But I also had an ulterior motive to all of this. I was trying to glean information so I could find the HVAC equipment online for a vastly discounted rate. And then just have the HVAC professionals install it. And this is just the approach I took. It took me nearly a month to find the deal I wanted but when I did, I snapped it up and had it shipped to my house. The thing is though, I just bought a piece of HVAC equipment that won’t fit the air volume in my house. How’s that for cleverness?
