Reminiscing about my first boiler installation job & the best client experience

Because the weather could have been nicer, it took us four nights to complete our work.

When I got a job at a local heating company, I was overjoyed to join the only other Heating and Air Conditioning repairman on the job for home visits. The first client was working on a home renovation project and required a new boiler to replace an old one that was no longer responding to boiler repair. The client desired a boiler, but the heating dealership representative advised them to go the extra mile and install a hybrid heating system because they would have their number one heating equipment as well as a heat pump. They also wanted to investigate hydronic heating, but an assessment of their home revealed that it was unsuitable for installation. Their victory was that they would at least get a boiler/heater installation that they did not despise. I was excited because it was a big project for the contractor and I had to figure out how to install the heat and A/C product combination and make it work. We had to first remove the boiler to make room for the new equipment, which would still be kept in the same attic space, which they chose to keep because it made Heating and Air Conditioning service easy and away from the rest of the house. Because the weather could have been nicer, it took us four nights to complete our work. The customers were a lovely couple who had come to see the installation and had a lot of questions. I answered some of their questions, but I deferred to a more experienced boiler service expert to answer their more complex ones. I’ve gone to that home several times for service because they are enthusiastic about it, and it reminds me how much I’ve grown in my job.
