When my fiance plus I bought our house, my associate and I were told the boiler was almost fifty years old, my superb friend and I knew boilers lasted a long time, however my associate and I figured at most, my associate and I would have ten years to save for the ductless mini split Heating plus A/C system my associate and I absolutely wanted installed, but since the boiler didn’t use HVAC duct, my associate and I didn’t need to worry about having the old HVAC duct removed from the house! It was a win-win situation. Here it is ten years later, plus the boiler system is running well. I called the Heating plus A/C supplier for an assessment, however the serviceman told us the boiler system looked like new. He could see it lasting another ten years or more. I was about in tears, plus he looked at me oddly. I told him I wanted to get rid of the boiler plus have a ductless Heating plus A/C system installed. I then got a bright idea. I wanted to know if they could provide us a trade-in value on the boiler, plus take the cost off the ductless Heating plus A/C system. He said he could not make that decision, however since it was fifty years old, he didn’t see it happening. My superb friend and I could donate to a homeless group, plus possibly provide someone a heating system for free, however with it being so old, no one would want one. If the boiler was too old to provide away for free, then why wasn’t it too old to continue laboring. I absolutely wanted to get rid of the boiler plus get a ductless Heating plus A/C system, however no one was listening to my pleas.
