HVAC technician gave us the gift of time

Each fall, the HVAC technician comes out to the house to do the HVAC heating maintenance. This is followed each spring by the same HVAC technician coming out to do the air conditioning tune up in the spring. It’s nice to have the same HVAC professional looking after our HVAC equipment. And it really paid off as well. This past fall, the HVAC professional came to us after the HVAC maintenance to let us know that our heat pump’s days were numbered. That sort of caught us by surprise. While it was clear that the HVAC unit had been around a while, we really hadn’t done the math. We put that HVAC unit in when we bought this house. To our utter shock, that was nearly 27 years ago. So of course the HVAC equipment was about to wear out. But all those years of consistent HVAC maintenance resulted in not a single minute of down time when it came to heating and cooling. Perhaps, this is what lulled us to sleep on the HVAC equipment. Thankfully, our winter is really mild so our HVAC technician had really given us the gift of a head start when it came to the summer. We were able to get with the HVAC contractor and save up enough to pay for the new heating and cooling equipment. However, with the early heads up, we had plenty of time to get all this accomplished before the heat and humidity of the summer months set in. I promise you, there is no way I’m going into a summer like ours without a heat pump that is ready to go.
