The air conditioner in our church broke down during our annual VBS

Each year, our church puts on a Vacation Bible School.

We usually have around 500 children come to our vacation Bible schools, and it is a lot of work, but it is worth it all.

Thankfully, our church is a pretty good size with many classrooms. We had quite the time this past VBS. Right before it was supposed to start, the air conditioning system in our church building went out. We had not had any troubles previously, so we did not expect this to happen. We were in no way prepared for it, but we learned to just go with the flow. It was over one hundred degrees the day of VBS, and the church building began to heat up quite quickly. Some church members brought their window units from home to try and help keep the church as cool as possible, but it was still very warm and humid. As workers, we tried to make the best of the situation so that the children would still have a blast. It was definitely not easy, but we were able to get through that super long day. We have many water games outside each year, but this year, we had more than ever before, and every single one of the children and staff members were thankful. It felt so good be get wet, and even the older ladies that normally would not choose to get wet purposely got involved in the water games just to cool down. Thankfully, we had an HVAC company come in and repair the air conditioning system in the church, but I do not think that any of us VBS workers will forget this year’s events.
