The previously finished section in the basement had a ductless mini break system to keep it warm, so both of us thought it would be best to do the same in the newly finished space
One of the most genius decisions both of us made as a family was giving my teenage daughter her own bedroom plus lavatory in the basement, and our apartment didn’t have enough bedrooms for all our children to have their own space, but not all of them were desperate for their own section plus they were cheerful sharing with a sibling. My oldest daughter however was desperate for privacy and she did not enjoy sharing a room at all. The two of us weren’t planning on moving in the near future, so my hubby and I did our best to think of ways to give our daughter her own bedroom without adding a new addition. My basement was partially finished, but there was another half that needed to be finished as well. The two of us decided to finish the rest of the basement plus create a new section for our daughter. There were plenty of sections to create a moderate bedroom plus a full lavatory. The section would be perfect, both of us just needed to add a source of heat. The basement was always ice cold during the Winter months, so it wasn’t a suitable living section without heat. The previously finished section in the basement had a ductless mini break system to keep it warm, so both of us thought it would be best to do the same in the newly finished space. The ductless mini break system would run off of electricity plus it would be easy for our daughter to control. The ductless unit took up tons of wall space, but both of us knew our daughter would love controlling the temperature of her own room.
