Each and every year, my boss sends a couple of repair technicians to a seminar.
This year, the HVAC seminar was held in the middle of December. I was not particularly excited to be chosen as one of the ambassadors from our company. The seminar was held in a city in the middle of the country, where the temperatures were going to be cold and frigid. I was coming from a Southern state, where it was still 70 degrees during the day. I was not particularly excited about the cold temperatures, and I told my boss you to someone else. Unfortunately, I am the lead technician at the HVAC repair business where I work and that means I have to keep up on all of the new technology and education. My boss did not let me get out of going to the seminar. The day we left, it was 73 degrees at the airport. The three-hour flight seemed to take forever. Two of my co-workers and I arrived in the midwest town around 6 in the evening. It was already dark outside and very cold. There was snow on the ground in some places around town. The HVAC seminar was held at a Ritz-Carlton in the middle of the city. The accommodations were extremely nice, and we had a hot breakfast each and every morning for free, thanks to the hotel. During the week-long seminar, I actually learned a lot of new information about solar heating and cooling. I had a lot of interesting information to take back to the boss and share with the rest of the crew.
