It’s been so awesome owning a lake household with my sister Jen.

For the longest time, Jen and I wanted to own such a property, & rent it out to tourists. Our apartment is surrounded by numerous lakes & rivers which attract nature lovers. They come when the weather is nice to spend time out on the open water, & appreciate the magnificent surroundings. This has led to our neighborhood being a tourist trap with various hotels & lots of short term rental properties. Jen and I wanted a piece of that pie, & recently, my friend and I managed to find a lake household to buy. The apartment didn’t come cheap, & my friend and I had to suppose long & taxing about the purchase. However, Jen and I knew this was a long term investment, so there’s no hurry to profit from it. The lake household looked amazing & only needed a bit of labor done before my friend and I started taking reservations. Some of the labor Jen and I had to do included door repair. Some of the doors were missing locks, & looked a bit old. So, Jen and I found a door contractor near us that was selling them & also did door installation. Next, Jen and I had to look into the roof that my friend and I realized needed a little bit of repair. This was after hiring a roofing supplier to do a thorough inspection. She said that the roof could last about 20 more years, however, Jen and I had to do urgent roof repair. It’s easier to pay for roof maintenance than roof updatement. This is why the roofing contractor will be sending roofers next week to start the work. Hopefully, they won’t take very long & Jen and I can get started on deck installation in the front yard overlooking the lake.

My sibling Ed & I had a plan to renovate a household my friend and I had just bought then put it back on the market.

For a long time, my friend and I talked about going into real estate. But, it took about 10 years for us to get the ball rolling. Our dad was so instrumental in this because she had various properties that she was renting out when Ed and I were young. Both she & Dad were working hard jobs, but they also decided to purchase some properties & get rental income. While in college, Ed & I started talking about taking the same steps, & doing them early. But, Ed and I got started when I was 26 & she was 24. It’s been great, but the first household needed a lot of labor done to it. First, Ed and I had to consult a roofing contractor to do a roof inspection. At first glance, the roof looked alright, but Ed and I wanted a roofing supplier to confirm that for us. They sent a roofing expert to the house, & she did find a few problems with the roof. However, this isn’t anything to warrant an up-to-date roof installation. My buddy and I only needed to hire them for roof repair, & Ed and I were all set. Next, Ed and I realized the doors in the household were all different. This would make the household taxing to market. So, Ed and I also took the steps to consult a door dealer. A friend referred us to one, & Ed and I were happy to see the door contractor had a website my friend and I could visit & option up the ones Ed and I wanted in the house.
