All my cherry wood furniture is dated

I have been obsessed with cherry wood furniture even though it isn’t the favorite kind of furniture in the new era. In fact, many of my friends with new homes suppose that my cherry wood furniture is a wee bit dated. My neighbor Lilly even said my furniture reminds her of the furniture in her Grandma’s house. While this could be a popular opinion, I still dig the classic look and feel of cherry wood furniture; Plus, the finish comes in so many unusual colors so there are a lot of varieties to choose from. Moreover, I suppose that the cherry wood furniture could be paired with other pieces to create a new or contemporary look. Personally, I like to take risks when it comes to decorating my home, and it drives me nuts seeing every condo have the same type of furniture. It lacks creativity and it tells me that everyone used the same furniture store in the town that we live in. I like certain accents, and I like finding antique pieces as well. And if I could find something that is both antique and certain , I have hit the jackpot. This is why I care about going to real estate sales because I can undoubtedly find some wonderful pieces there. And yup, many of the furniture at a real estate sale is old, however properly they are in wonderful condition. It beats getting cookie cutter furniture from the local furniture store in my town. Anyway, although Lilly may not like my taste in furnishings, I won’t change my mind about liking cherry wood furniture. Because unlike Lilly, I don’t care that it’s dated at all.

I just hire out and do a maintenance plan

I am a single woman who is in her late 20s.

I own my house and I work full time.

I am also not handy in any way. I wish I had a boyfriend or husband I could call when things break. Sadly it is up to me. I struggled repairing plumbing issues, electrical concerns and dryer vent cleanings on my own. I then decided that I make good money and I will just hire out. It has made me a much happier person. Now anytime something breaks, I call the professionals. I recently had an electrician rewire my kitchen and add recessed lighting. I got a HVAC tune up and while the guy was there he talked about ductwork services and dryer vent cleaning. I realized that I could get on a ductwork maintenance plan and a dryer vent cleaning service. I could have a guy come once a year to make sure my air ducts weren’t clogged with dust. He would also ensure the dryer vent wasn’t clogged with lint and a fire hazard. He would even check over the dryer to ensure that it works well. I sometimes deal with overheating and the dryer quitting on me. It will be so nice not to worry about that anymore. I said yes to every kind of service and maintenance plan. I have a whole rotating calendar of men that come in and perform these deeds. I love it that I don’t have to deal with unexpected repairs or polluted indoor air quality. The house is all set and I just pay the bills when they come in.

I had a portable tiny home for camping.

I kept telling my husband that I didn’t enjoy camping.

When we were dating, he used to always ask me to go camping with him when he went with his family or friends.

I always hated camping. My parents would drag us to the campground several times during the summer. You slept on the ground in a sleeping bag. It was always chilly and damp, and when it rained, it was ten times worse. Not even the tent could keep you from getting cold and wet. When I got old enough to stay home alone, mom and dad left me stay home. I hadn’t been camping since that day and did not need to go camping. I had a bathtub, excellent HVAC, and walls to keep out the damp and cold. I enjoyed camping if it was in a hotel room with a panoramic view of the area. Then, last year, my husband told me he was insisting I go camping with him and the kids. I told him no, but he handed me a blindfold. When he removed the blindfold, I was standing in from of a portable tiny home. He told me it wasn’t very big, but he could pull it behind the truck. If it rained, the portable tiny home would work as a camper for all of us. If it was nice outside, he’d let the boys sleep in the tent, but he and I would use the portable tiny home where we could take showers.and sleep in an actual bed. I realized what a hypocrite he was about camping when he said he was staying in the portable tiny home with me.

Outdated electric in apartment causes problems

When I first graduated from college, my budget was extremely tight. Although I managed to secure a job in my chosen field, it was an entry level position that didn’t pay very much. I was struggling to pay off my student loans and keep up with my car and insurance payments. There was very little money leftover to cover rent, utilities, gas and groceries. I moved into a very small apartment because it was the best I could afford. The property was old and not well-maintained. The front door didn’t close properly, and there were signs of moisture damage on the ceilings. The refrigerator wasn’t cold enough to prevent mild and bologna from spoiling. There was insufficient hot water from a decent shower and disappointing water pressure. The wiring in the apartment was downright unsafe. Every time I used the microwave, I tripped the breaker. I could plug the vacuum cleaner into any of the plugs in the living room. Whenever the air conditioner started up, the lights dimmed. The air conditioner used so much energy that I couldn’t afford to operate it. Unfortunately, most of the windows were painted shut. Running a box fan was difficult, because I needed to unplug everything else. The monthly electric bill was always huge. I finally figured out that I could save money by moving into an apartment with higher rent and more energy efficient wiring, heating, cooling and appliances. I needed to find a place with either lower utility bills or utilities included in the rent. I was very excited to move out of that awful apartment.

There’s a difference between a real estate agent and a broker

Do you know the difference between a real estate agent versus a real estate broker? Up until recently, I believed they functioned in the same way.

I was sitting at the nail salon waiting for my technician to finish up with a client that she had.

And there was a lady sitting next to me who decided to start up a conversation with me. She was asking whether I owned or rented my home and after being hesitant about sharing any information with this strange lady, she mentioned that she was in real estate. So, after a few minutes of chatting, I made the mistake and called her a real estate agent, to which she corrected me and said that she was a broker. To be honest, I don’t believe I have ever used the term real estate broker, but I have used the words realtor or real estate agent before. And in my head, those terms were interchangeable. But this lady who was a bit passionate about what she did, explained that she was more than a real estate agent. She went on to explain that a real estate agent and a realtor work under a real estate broker. Furthermore, she stated that the real estate agent doesn’t have the qualifications of a real estate broker, nor do they have the education or the licensing. Well, I am glad that she explained the difference to me, so that I can avoid the mistake of thinking the 2 professions were the same. Anyway, the lady was rambling on and on a bit, so I was happy when my technician was done with her client because I was able to get my nails done.

How long does a roof replacement take?

A couple years ago, my dad had his roof replaced because it was over 25 years old. And as someone who has no idea about roof replacement, I wasn’t sure of how long the process would take. In my head, a roof replacement is a major project that should take at least a week to complete. But to my surprise his roof replacement was completed in less than 3 days. In fact, on the third day, the roofers didn’t complete a full day, so technically it took two and a half days to do a full roof replacement. My dad lives in a 2,100 square foot home which is around the average size of a home in the country and based on what I read online, it should take between 2 to 3 days for a full roof replacement. Of course, depending on the material used, some roof replacements will take more time. For instance, asphalt shingles, which is what my dad has on his roof, have one of the shortest installation times. However, tile, metal, or natural slate, takes much longer to install. In fact, depending on weather as well as the square footage of a home, it could take up to 9 or more days to install a concrete tile roof. And speaking of weather, it plays a big part in the time it takes for a roof replacement. Weather can cause major delays for roofing contractors. Anyway, it’s good to know that replacing a roof doesn’t take as long as I initially thought it would. And if I ever needed to get my roof replaced, I know the process will take 2 to 3 days, of course, weather permitting.
