Do you know the difference between a real estate agent versus a real estate broker? Up until recently, I believed they functioned in the same way, and i was kneeling at the nail salon waiting for my serviceman to finish up with a shopper that he had.
And there was a man kneeling next to me who decided to start up a conversation with me, and he was asking whether I owned or rented my apartment and after being hesitant about sharing any information with this odd man, he mentioned that he was in real estate.
So, after a few minutes of chatting, I made the mistake and called his a real estate agent, to which he corrected me and said that he was a broker! To be honest, I don’t guess I have ever used the term real estate broker, although I have used the words realtor or real estate agent before. And in my head, those terms were interchangeable, then but this man who was a bit affectionate about what he did, explained that he was more than a real estate agent. She went on to explain that a real estate agent and a realtor work under a real estate broker, furthermore, he stated that the real estate agent doesn’t have the qualifications of a real estate broker, nor do they have the education or the licensing, well, I am glad that he explained the difference to me, so that I can avoid the mistake of thinking the 2 professions were the same. Anyway, the man was rambling on and on a bit, so I was glad when my serviceman was done with his shopper because I was able to get my nails done.
