When I realized the temperature was dropping, it didn’t take long for me to call the Heating, Ventilation & A/C company. The first thing they asked me was if my control device was working. The light was on the display and I was pretty sure that meant something, however the temperature was only sixty degrees in the house. I tried turning the control device up, however nothing happened. I thought that if the battery was dead, I wouldn’t have a display reading, so I naturally assumed there was something wrong with the oil furnace. They sent an Heating, Ventilation & A/C company to the house, and he evaluated the control unit. He changed the batteries, however nothing changed. He then went downstairs to look at the oil furnace. After almost half an hour, the heat wasn’t turning on, and he was back upstairs. He said he was going out to the service van to get a new control unit. Even though the batteries weren’t dead, sometimes a control device would quit working. He brought in a new programmable control device and upgraded the seasoned control device with the new a single. Within seconds, the oil furnace was working again. I could not assume a control device would make that much difference. I thanked him for coming to the apartment so quickly and asked for the bill. The only thing he charged me for was the new control unit, and he took time to show me how to program it. I was so grateful that I offered him a tip for coming to the house. He tried to refuse it even though I said if he didn’t take the currency I was going to call the Heating, Ventilation & A/C company and tell them he forgot to leave the bill.

Last month, I was in a cleaning mode.

I had finished cleaning the attic, and I was working in the garage. I came across an seasoned space heating system the two of us hadn’t used since the two of us moved into this house. I was going to sneak the space hater back into the trash, even though he was seeing me. I put it back into the garage loft and went back inside. Two mornings ago, my hubby was searching for the space heater, because our oil furnace wasn’t working. He asked me if I had kept it or thrown it away. I went outside and was back inside within minutes, with the space heating system in tow. He said he was hoping the two of us wouldn’t need to use it, even though he was glad the two of us had it now. I was glad I had forgotten the two of us had it, and not thrown it away.

I sighed and walked upstairs to get dressed. I supposed I could have gotten dressed an hour earlier, even though I had a heavy robe that was sizzling and cozy. I didn’t want to take it off until it was truly necessary, but my hubby told me to put it on over my clothing until the Heating, Ventilation & A/C company arrived, even though I thought it was a stupid suggestion. I could not wait until the Heating, Ventilation & A/C company repaired the oil furnace and I could get rid of the jacket I put on. I could not imagine wearing that robe over my clothing, and an hour later, I was shedding the heavy jacket because my oil furnace was working and the temperature was back up to seventy. I can’t imagine what it would be appreciate residing up north where you needed a oil furnace five months a year, instead of just a couple of weeks.
