If I can barbecue for every meal I would: I just love to barbecue.

• When fall sets in, and it starts getting cold outside ,I get a little bit depressed because I know that my barbecuing days are over until next summer.

I cover up my barbecue when the leaves begin to fall and I wait for summer. But this year, I went away for work in September and when I came home, my wife had a surprise for me. She had had underfloor heating installed in our porch. Apparently she had been very busy in those two weeks between the HVAC workers and the construction workers. The HVAC guys put in the underfloor heating. And construction workers built a screened-in area over the porch. The screens can be covered as well. They hold the heat in and there’s even ventilation for the barbecue. With the heated floors and the covered screens, I can barbecue all year long. I can’t wait to barbecue when there’s snow on the ground outside. I’m sure I’ll stay nice and warm even in the dead of winter. The underfloor heating is really neat too. I can’t wait to check it out. I don’t know how well the covered screens will hold in the heat but at least my feet will be warm, no matter what. I imagine that the whole porch area will stay at least 10 or 20 degrees warmer than the outside air, thanks to the underfloor heating. Now I just need one of those lounge chairs that lays out close to the ground and I’ll be perfectly comfortable no matter what the temperature is doing outside.

I don’t know what I was thinking when I signed up for a weekend horseback riding trip.

I thought it would be a lot of fun. It was a lot of fun, however, it was also the most of work I have ever done in my entire life. Before this trip, I’ve only ever ridden a horse for a maximum of two hours on the trail. That’s why, after about three hours on that weekend trip, I was ready to call it quits. I was hot, tired, and my knees and back hurt. I didn’t quit though because there were riders older than me and they weren’t complaining. I didn’t want to be the baby of the group so I toughed it out. By the time we stopped at the cabins, that first night, I could have slept on the ground. Thankfully, that wasn’t necessary. We stopped at cabins that had beds all made up and the air conditioning running. I was never so happy to hear an air conditioner as I was that evening. When I opened my cabin door, a blast of cold air hit me and it was all I could do to force myself to stay awake long enough to take a shower and eat a little bit of the dinner that had been prepared. Everybody else looked about as tired as I did and no one talk during the dinner. We all just ate as fast as possible and went back to our air-conditioned cabins to sleep. On Sunday, we had to leave our air-conditioned cabins and head back out onto the trail for another day of riding. I couldn’t wait to get back home to my cool and comfortable house and sitting on my couch instead of on a horses back.

My husband and I both like camping and so we’ve been talking about getting a travel trailer for about a year now.

Although we like camping, we want to have some of the comforts of home too. We’re not really into the whole tent thing. That’s why we were looking for a standard trailer. However, we were a little worried about towing such a large object. That’s when my husband discovered tent trailers. At first, I didn’t like the idea. I did not see how a tent trailer could be heated or cooled and I thought we would get all wet when it rained. To me, a tent trailer was basically just a regular tent on wheels. Then I found out that that is not the case at all. Tent trailers are made of waterproof canvas and the windows are plastic. Some of them even come with heaters and air conditioners. After I discovered that, I agreed to go look at some tent trailers with my husband. At the dealership, the display trailers had their air conditioners on and they were all set up. It was very impressive. I was surprised how cool it was inside of the tent trailers; the cool air did not seem to be escaping into the outside are either. They even have a little heater built into the wall under the refrigerator in the trailer. I like that the tent trailer is low profile, making it less likely to roll over when we tow it. It’s also less likely that will rip off the air conditioning unit that’s on the roof since the tent trailer is actually lower profiled than our truck is. I really think a tent trailer maybe the answer to our camping needs.

Then they act like their feelings are hurt when I mention a more current Heating and A/C brand or capability

I am not impressed with the heating and cooling products that our common Heating and A/C company has to offer. My friend and I have been using the same Heating and A/C dealer for over a decade now and they are good. The professionals are always on time and well kept. The prices are low too. But our old Heating and A/C system has been chopping down a lot lately. It is not our Heating and A/C business’s fault that our Heating and A/C system is ancient. The professionals have told us a few times that my fantastic friend and I might want to beginning looking into newer heating and cooling products. My friend and I agreed. My friend and I looked at what our common Heating and A/C company has to offer though and my fantastic friend and I are not impressed. It is all stuff from a decade ago. I want a smart Heating and A/C system with energy saving capabilities and a high SEER rating. In other words, I want up-to-date Heating and A/C technology. Not technology that is 10 years old. When I have brought this up to my Heating and A/C professionals they say that all of their equipment is new. They act like I guess it is used equipment. I know it is new. It just isn’t current Heating and A/C equipment. I guess I should get what I want if I am going to be paying multiple thousand dollars; Don’t you? Despite my being insistent on this my Heating and A/C company just keeps showing me the same old Heating and A/C equipment. Then they act like their feelings are hurt when I mention a more current Heating and A/C brand or capability. I don’t know if they won’t or can’t get up-to-date Heating and A/C technology at this dealer however it is looking like I will have to find a odd Heating and A/C company if I want up-to-date and improved heating and cooling products.

My father has been stressed building himself a man cave out behind the house. I keep calling it a she-shed and this is making him mad. To me, a man cave goes in the basement and a she-shed goes outside of the house, my Mom’s house doesn’t have a basement so he got a little shed and is turning that into a man cave. I have to admit, it is turning out good. The shed already had a wood cottage look to it. My Mom got some comfortable chairs, a big screen TV, and a mini fridge. He also got a gaming desk to fit and hooked up his laptop. The only problem is that his she-shed has no heating or cooling. It is winter now and rather uncomfortable in the man cave. He got a little space heater and that is working pretty well even though I worry about the safety of those things. My Mom said he is thinking about getting a ductless mini split system installed in his man cave. I have never even heard of one of those. I was looking at PTAC systems myself for the cave. However, PTAC systems are super loud most of the time. Besides, you have to chop a immense hole in the wall. When I looked a ductless mini split systems I feel that might be perfect for the she-shed. Those don’t require that immense holes be chop in the wall. They also tend to be quiet, however even more quiet than central heating and air. The little ductless mini split systems are not prohibitively extravagant either, but you can get one for just over a thousand dollars, then of course, upgrade costs a bit more even though I feel it would be worth it to make sure it is done right.

I have had my eye on the house on the hill for over a decade now.

I have always lusted over that house. It overlooks the ocean, has amazing gardens you can see from the freeway, and has these appealing decorative windows, however when I drive by I can see the lights on in the house and I wish it was mine. That is why I was happy to learn that the house was listed up for sale. I doubted that we could afford it even though I arranged for a walk through anyway. In person, this house was even more amazing than I had imagined. The decorative windows are appealing from the inside, then however, the one feature of the house I didn’t like was the fact that it had no central heating or cooling, then none at all. In fact, it just had baseboard boilers spread throughout the house and 2 window air conditioning units. When I asked the realtor why it had no central Heating, Ventilation & A/C system he told me that the walls, ceiling, and flooring were not built right for ductwork, and still, there is such a thing as underfloor heating and cooling, and yet, I would don’t care for to tear up those decorative wood floors. However, I heard about this Heating, Ventilation & A/C system called a ductless mini split system. Apparently you just have to drill a few holes in the walls and run some hoseing through them. I would actually look into the occasion of getting that done if I could afford this house. If I could afford the house, I still don’t know that I would buy it if there was no way to get an Heating, Ventilation & A/C system installed. I like the looks of the house even though I want my creature comforts too.
