Bryce grew up in a loving home. He got adopted at 1 month old. According to his adoptive parents, Bryce’s mom was an addict and couldn’t take care of him. So, she gave him up for adoption. When he was 16, his adoptive parents helped him trace his family, especially his mom’s parents. After a year, he found them, and they were so happy to meet Bryce. They explained that they thought he was dead after his mom overdosed a long time ago. But, his grandpa always held hope in his heart that Bryce was alive and well. Now, it’s been 2 years since their reunion, and Bryce goes to see his biological grandparents every summer. Last summer, he noticed the space felt quite warm while he was at their home. As the temperatures rose, the heat and humidity in the house seemed to increase. Bryce knew the house had a heat pump, but it seemed it wasn’t doing a good job cooling the space. He asked his grandpa about the heat pump one afternoon as they were relaxing after working on the farm in the morning. Bryce’s grandpa said he was aware the heat pump was old and needed an upgrade. But, he knew heat pumps are expensive, and he wasn’t sure it was worth the extra cost. Bryce understood his grandpa’s concern, but he reminded him of the dangers of older folks staying without proper air conditioning. Ever since I moved away from home, my parents have wanted to downsize. I was the last of the kids to fly the nest and head off to college. Growing up, we had a 5 bedroom home, which was good for 7 people. But, when my parents became empty-nesters, they found it too big. After some research, they found this amazing small community with lovely 3-bedroom homes. Dad and mom put the previous house on the market, and it didn’t take long to sell. They bought a smaller house and have been living there for the past year. Last month, I phoned them to catch up. Mom and dad were lamenting about the high energy bill. When they bought the house, it came with a furnace and an air conditioner. It’s winter, so I know they need the furnace to keep the house warm. But dad said the previous month’s energy bill was too high. It was even higher than it was heating the previous 5 bedrooms home. Mom asked if there could be an issue with the furnace, and I wasn’t sure. The best they could do was contact an HVAC company in the area to seek the services of an HVAC technician. Dad said he’d been thinking of that and decided to call the HVAC company the following morning. He booked an appointment, and the HVAC technician arrived at the house after a few hours. She went through every inch of the furnace system and noticed several worn-out parts plus the furnace needed a tune-up. The HVAC technician explained to my parents the importance of regular furnace maintenance. Doing so made it more energy-efficient and would bring down the energy costs.

I always love drinking across the country when I have time off work. When I was employed, I’d take the weekend to travel and see amazing places. However, I became busier when I started my own business. Still, I made it a point to take a break now and then to travel to different destinations. Someone formed a Facebook group of people who love driving to new places. That’s where I met my girlfriend, then wife, Mercy. I saw her comment on a specific post and decided to message her hoping she’d reply. We met for coffee a few days later, planned our first road trip, and have been together ever since. Last month, we planned a big trip that would last 2 weeks, so we opted to book a camper van with AC and all facilities for a comfortable time. The camper van rental agency ensured us everything, including the car AC, was in order. We wouldn’t want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere with no air conditioning in summer. Our trip started great, and we attached the camper van to my truck before hitting the road. However, on day 5, something went wrong, and the AC stopped working. We had to turn back and find a nearby town immediately. There was a heat wave, and boy was it hot in the camper van! Joy wasn’t sure why her parents had opted to buy her a house.

But she thought it was because they didn’t want her and her son to live in an apartment. They came over when Joy had her baby and stayed in the apartment for some time. As they helped her take care of the newborn, her dad broached the subject of buying her a house. Joy’s parents are retired, have no debt, and have a good retirement package. They love their daughter and always want the best for her. One evening while having dinner, Joy’s dad said it was time for her to start searching for a house, and they’d buy it for her. Knowing her parents quite well, Joy agreed to this suggestion, and 8 months later, she was living in a 2 bedroom home in an amazing location. During her first spring in this new house, her dad called to remind Joy to contact an HVAC expert. He explained the importance of having HVAC maintenance in spring before the hot weather set in. When they bought the house, they’d contacted an HVAC expert who came to ensure the heating and cooling units in the house were in good condition. However, this time Joy would be by herself when the HVAC expert came to do maintenance in her home. Joy hoped the HVAC expert would do a good job and guarantee the unit to work all summer. She called the HVAC company for the last time and booked an appointment. This time Joy also wanted to learn more about service, repair, and emergency agreements.

When I was a kid, my grandpa bought me a toy camera.

He was an amateur photographer and saw me stare at his camera when I was 4.

After buying me the toy camera, we began sharing a passion for photography. Even after he passed away, I still kept taking pictures throughout high school. This prompted me to get more training as a photographer and set up a studio. One time I posted some lovely shots I took on a trip with friends in college and got a chance to blow them up and display them in an art gallery. The proceeds from selling the pictures were enough to open my photo studio. It’s been 5 years since I opened the space, and business is good. Last week, an AC emergency forced me to cancel several appointments. My assistant phoned me while driving to work to say the AC unit wasn’t working. He had arrived early to get a few things ready and noticed the space was warm and uncomfortable. I had to stop by the side of the road and call my 2 clients to push their photo shoots. Because of all the lights, the studio gets so hot that it’s impossible to work without the AC. I explained to my clients the issue with the faulty AC and promised to call them back once the cooling system was working. When I got to the studio, my assistant had phoned the AC repair company for emergency repair. They sent an AC worker who had the AC working in under 2 hours. The space felt so much better once the AC was restored.

After high school, Bruce was happy to get a room in his college with only one roommate. After graduation, he got a good job and managed to rent a small studio apartment all alone. Fast forward several years, and Bruce is married with 2 sets of twins. He loves his family so much but often longs for a place in their home just for him. His wife understood the need for Bruce to have alone time and suggested he renovate the basement. There was a lot of clutter to clear out, plus he had to figure out the best way to cool and heat the space. Eventually, Bruce got to work clearing and fixing up the basement to become his man cave. A friend came by one day to help and suggested Bruce should install a mini-split AC. he explained it would cost more to connect the basement to the central AC in the house. However, opting for a mini-split AC could mean Bruce would control the temperature in this space without interfering with the rest of the house. Plus, the mini-split AC was something he would have among his man cave paraphernalia. His wife also supported the idea of installing a mini-split AC to make the basement comfortable for Bruce. This would be a place he would go to watch the game and also be alone away from the family. His wife went to an HVAC store and surprised Bruce with a mini-split AC as he was renovating the basement man cave.
