I thought that I could make it all winter season without having my furnace service, although I was wrong.

Initially, I forgot to have my furnace maintained before the cooler weather and week after week continued to slip by until I decided to just skip it.

Although my furnace is older, I constantly have it maintained by an Heating and Air Conditioning corporation at least twice per year. I assumed that if I skipped the servicing this one time that I would be fine, but that wasn’t the case. When my furnace wouldn’t turn on, I was forced to call the Heating and Air Conditioning corporation to come repair it. I told him that the furnace wasn’t cutting on, and he told me that it could be one of numerous things. It was possibly a tripped breaker, a terrible blower fan, terrible coils, for a failed sequencer. I didn’t know what half of those things were, so I told him to look at everything and repair whatever needed fixed. The Heating and Air Conditioning professional was at my house for 45 minutes fixing my furnace and thankfully, he had my furnace running before he left. According to him, it was a faulty blower fan and he was able to repair it that afternoon. The blower fan was “misaligned,” which meant that my furnace was providing heat but it wasn’t making it’s way into my house. This was wonderful news to me because I was cheerful that I wouldn’t have to pay for new parts. I’m cheerful that the Heating and Air Conditioning corporation was able to come repair my furnace for me, because I wouldn’t have been able to do it on my own.

Last night, just as I was about to go to bed, I realized that my family room was unusually cold.

There are two air vents within my family room, so I listened quietly to hear the heat pour through them.

I waited and waited, however nothing ever happened. I stood in front of both air vents and tried to feel the heat coming out, just in case I wasn’t hearing it. When I still couldn’t feel the heat, I went into my family room and found the thermostat. I raised the temperature by two degrees and waited for the boiler to kick on. Again, I waited and waited however nothing happened. When I returned to the thermostat, I noticed that the thermostat said my home felt like it was 67 even though I’d set it to 75 degrees. This was the moment when I realized that my boiler wasn’t working. I didn’t want to call the emergency line with the local Heating & A/C contractor because it would cost me almost double! However, I didn’t want to freeze in the middle of the night either. I decided to try and solve the problem myself before calling the Heating & A/C contractor. The first thing I did was check the air filter. My old air filter didn’t look terrible, however I updated it anyway, then next, I went to check if any of the breakers were tripped. Sure enough, something had tripped the breaker and caused my boiler to stop working. Thankfully, I was able to flip it back and my boiler began to heat my house again.

When my friend and I got approval to build our home, my spouse & I were super excited to get started on the design process, then after renting for several years & then living in older homes that fit within our budget, my friend and I knew exactly what my friend and I wanted & what my friend and I didn’t want, one of the top things my friend and I wanted for our current house was a private gas line that allowed us to run our boiler off of gas. Most people my friend and I knew were afraid of using gas to heat their house because of the carbon dioxide risk. My pal and I but, were cheerful at using gas to heat our house over electricity, electricity was an efficient way to heat & cool any house & there were entirely less risks, but my friend and I wanted to use gas for a easily certain reason. In this area, my friend and I experience a lot of winter storms that leave us without power, then sometimes, the power has been out for several afternoons & we’re left with no heat! Having a boiler that ran off of gas would allow us to continue heating our house during these power outages unlike an electric heater. A gas boiler would also sizzling our house faster & stronger than an electric boiler. Unfortunately, electric boilers are cheaper to install, but my friend and I were willing to spend the cash upfront in order to reap the benefits later. Thankfully, our company understood why my friend and I were adamant about installing a gas line for our gas boiler & he was easily helpful in making these arrangements for us.

Grandpa is getting older plus his memory is not quite what it used to be.

He has been getting more plus more forgetful however he is undoubtedly adamant: he does not want to go into an old folks home.

He wants to remain independent as long as possible so my buddy and I have a nurse who checks in on him every afternoon. My fantastic friend and I all try to call at least once a afternoon too to make sure Grandpa is doing okay plus my buddy and I took away his vehicle keys because he truly should not be driving anymore. He’s okay with this because my buddy and I make sure he gets everything he needs plus my buddy and I bring him meals too. Even the stove is turned off for safety. However, he still managed to start a fire when he left a book on top of the space furnace last week. Thankfully, he diagnosed the situation as soon as the smoke detectors went off. Nonetheless, my buddy and I feel that the space furnace is a little too dangerous for Grandpa however it gets cold at night so he needs some sort of heat. My fantastic friend and I decided to all pitch in plus have central heating installed plus Grandpa’s house. The central furnace is a lot safer because it’s almost impossible to start a fire even if Grandpa leaves his books on the vents. My fantastic friend and I also have the Heating & Air Conditioning workers install a smart control component so my buddy and I can monitor the temperatures in the house. My fantastic friend and I can even do this remotely from our cell PCs plus adjust the temperature for Grandpa no matter where my buddy and I are. This should help Grandpa stay in his own home a bit longer plus stay safe.
