With things being so tough during the past few years, we have had to work on a tighter budget at home.

We only make room to spend money on things we need like HVAC system maintenance and putting food on the table.

I even decided to sell my car so that I could just focus on taking public transportation. It wasn’t such a huge deal to me because I hardly ever travel anywhere anyway. At least, I didn’t think that traveling around in a car was more important than our survival at home. When I started taking public transportation regularly, in a way I regretted making such a choice. It was because while riding on the bus, the AC system never seemed to be working. I asked the bus driver a few times to crank the AC system, but the driver said the AC was as high as it could go. It was hard to believe, but he showed me the temperature control settings and he wasn’t lying. Eventually, my wife bought me something called a cooling jacket. This jacket had built-in temperature control to provide air conditioning so that you actually feel cool no matter where you go. I thought people would think I was crazy for wearing a jacket in the middle of the summer, but when I used the thing, I didn’t care what people thought anymore. The cooling that the jacket provides is amazing! I seriously can wear this jacket all day with the awesome cooling it provides. The only thing is that the battery lasts for 8 hours. Usually that’s enough for me to take care of everything at work and then come back home using the cooling jack until I get back home where the AC feels nice.

The guys started fighting and then they started throwing things at each other.

During the pandemic, bathrooms all over the city were closed down. One reason was to slow the spread of Covid. The disease was spreading quickly, especially in the homeless population. They didn’t have face masks, hand sanitizer, or access to medicine. They weren’t being safe or protected. All of the public parks were closed down and the showers and bathrooms were included. The only place with bathrooms seemed to be the beach and everyone was scrambling to use them. The mobile bathrooms and portable toilets were set up by the beach access parking lots. The city was trying to provide bathrooms for tourists, but the homeless set up a camp three hundred feet from the portable toilets. I worked for the sheriff last year when I got a call about a disturbance by the beach. I responded to the call. I had to be the person to answer the call. I wish it had been someone else. I ended up in the middle of a really nasty situation. Two homeless men were fighting over the portable bathroom. One guy wanted to sleep in the bathroom and the other guy wanted to use the toilet. The guys started fighting and then they started throwing things at each other. I was called down there to keep the peace. I tried to break up the fight, but I got things thrown in my direction. I had to threaten to taser both guys before they would calm down and stop yelling and screaming. I’m thankful that I don’t have to deal with those problems anymore.

I am always eager to go and stay at hotels.

I’m not sure what it is, but I really love staying at hotels.

I have always found them to be comforting. So when I was away on a business trip, and I had to stay at a hotel, I was perfectly okay with this. The hotel I was supposed to stay at was really nice, and I figured that it would be a great place to stay. When I arrived, I admired the inside of the building, before checking in. I threw my belongings on the bed, and went over to the air conditioner. One of my most favorite parts about hotels is how icy cold their A/C is. That is always something I have loved. The best part is that I can run it as long as I want, and not have to worry about paying the bills either. I don’t know what it is about HVAC cooling, but it is just so much better than my home’s air conditioning. Maybe commercial air conditioning is better somehow, or more powerful. Anyways, I went to turn the A/C device on, and when it turned on it started heating the room rather than cooling it. I noticed the button was on heating, instead of cooling. I definitely don’t need heat in the summertime, so I tried pushing the button to switch to cooling. However, it seemed the button was stuck, because it was hard to press and even when I would it wouldn’t do anything. I probably wasted 20 minutes attempting to fix it, but to no avail. I eventually told the front desk about my issue, and they switched me to a different room that had perfect air conditioning.

I really love having a close friend. There is nothing like having a really close friend that you can just relate to. Not only that, but having a lot of great conversations, and occasional debates. So when my house was going to be repaired and my friend offered for me to stay over at her place, rather than a hotel, I was thrilled! I packed my bags on Thursday, and I went over to see her place the same day. She welcomed me with open arms and I also greeted her husband, who is super kind too. She had the guest room already prepared, and the room was spotless and super nice looking. I was honestly surprised at how much effort she went through just to make the room feel and look nice for me. The first day without anything happening, because it was at night. However, the first day it became heated during the afternoon. I woke up sweating, with the sun shining through the window. I ended up closing the window, to prevent the sun from heating up my room even more. I asked my friend about the air conditioning, and she told me it was broken, and she actually has a visit from the A/C tech coming out in a week. Unfortunately, that means we would all be going without heating and A/C for my entire stay. Her home heated up far more than mine did, and maybe that’s because her home is small. Even though I enjoyed staying with my friend, the lack of air conditioning kind of ruined it. I was glad to go back home to my central A/C unit.

As the years grew by, I found myself getting more and more disappointed in the way my home heats and cools.

When I first moved into my home, the heating and air conditioning was pretty fantastic.

The heating and cooling device was able to warm and cool my home in under 20 minutes. Nowadays, it is taking longer and longer to do that. It probably takes at least an hour, if not more than that. I found myself growing more and more dissatisfied with the job the HVAC unit was doing. I guess I can’t entirely blame the system, since it is pretty old and has been working for a long time. But I knew that I wouldn’t be able to deal with this for much longer. I decided to call a heating business to discuss my options, and when the HVAC technician asked me what the problem was, I told him that the heating and cooling in the home was inadequate. He asked a few more questions and then he started telling me about what kind of HVAC device might be a great fit for my home. Although I love all of the options he listed, I mentioned that they were probably just a little bit out of my budget. Then he mentioned getting a ductless mini split, which was much more doable. I am willing to consider getting a ductless HVAC in the near future, but I am going to try to save a bit more money first, that way I can get an even better HVAC system.

My family is really opinionated on things.

Even small things you wouldn’t think of, they have an opinion on. Which is why when it came to me deciding on my new kind of HVAC method for my home, it was really annoying they were constantly trying to pressure me into getting a central HVAC unit for my home. After about 16 years, my regular A/C unit broke down, and so I decided to get a new one. I wanted to be very careful about what kind I chose, since this was an expensive investment that I would be stuck with for a while. While I had already considered the central HVAC unit, it wasn’t one of the main ones I wanted. I really was interested in trying something new, preferably eco-friendly, such as the geothermal heat pumps. I have heard a lot of good things about heat pumps, and I live in the perfect environment for one. Not only that, but I really wanted to ask a professional heating and A/C worker’s advice on what they believe would be best fit for my budget and home. Regardless of this, as soon as my family found out that I was getting a new HVAC unit, all of them were trying to convince me to go with the popular central A/C. There is nothing wrong with the central air conditioner, but I simply don’t want it, and I really wish my family would stop pressuring me. They probably won’t though, because they only have experience with central HVAC and they believe it is the best.
