There are some things that I can be quite finicky on, and air quality is one of them.

This doesn’t come out of nowhere though, it’s because growing up, my brother had really bad allergies, and was sensitive to indoor air quality.

He was extremely sensitive, and had to be on a lot of medication. Not only that, but we had to have indoor air purifiers, as well as HEPA air filters to keep the home as clean as possible. We would thoroughly clean the home almost every day, to reduce his allergies just by a little bit. Even though I have moved out of my parent’s home, and away from my brother, this habit of needing the air quality to be fantastic in the home is very important to me. To combat this, I bought a whole home media air cleaner for my own home, as well as used HEPA air filters for my air conditioning system. But I decided to take it a step further as well. I had no idea when the last ductwork cleaning was done in my home, so I imagine the ductwork was probably pretty nasty looking. I decided to call the HVAC dealer close to me and ask about the duct cleaning. Thankfully it wasn’t too expensive, so I scheduled the appointment for next week. When the next week came, a team of heating and cooling servicemen came and cleaned out the ductwork. It took a few hours but it was worth it when everything was said and done. My home felt much cleaner.

I am honestly really proud of how far I have come when it comes to a lot of knowledge in general.

For the longest time, I was exactly the kind of person who would rather spend all of their days partying than doing any kind of reading and studying.

Going to a university was out of the question, that sounded boring and so was learning. I lived in the moment, and the present moment was to have fun. At least, that’s how I used to think. That all changed when I discovered my passion for heating and cooling. In school, I remember being so bored, and so tired of learning. I even hated learning. But the only reason why I hated learning was because I wasn’t learning something I was actually interested in. I started learning about heating and air conditioning from a HVAC book. That is where my interest sparked, which quickly became my passion. I found myself reading book after book, article after article and so much more when it came to learning about the HVAC career. I knew that that was what I wanted to do in life, and so I went to HVAC university, something I never thought I would do, and I became a certified heating specialist. I am so proud of my cooling knowledge and my job, it really gives me something to look forward to, and I feel like I am making a difference, a small difference, in everyone’s lives. That is why I love HVAC.

 

Energy saving tips

I really got lucky with my first home. The previous owners must have been heating and A/C savvy, and the reason why I say that is because my home has many different types of HVAC methods. First is the main form of heating and cooling, which is the central air conditioner. The home also has an electric fireplace as well, but my personal favorite is the heated flooring. The previous owners had heated flooring installed in the bathroom, and the bathroom always feels so warm and welcoming because of it. Honestly, I love the radiant heated flooring so much, I am considering getting it installed in the rest of the home! Especially in places like the kitchen, because the kitchen tile is always so ice cold. Now my home wasn’t perfect, it still had to be repainted as well as fix some of the carpet in the bedrooms, but for the most part, my house is about as close to perfect as it can get. Even if my home had a lot more in damages, I appreciate the HVAC so much in this home, I would be willing to deal with a lot of damages. Usually when it comes to home I look for one I can immediately move into, no repairs to worry about. But if I see another home like my own, that has a great HVAC method, then I might change my mind. That’s how much I enjoy the heating and air conditioning in this home. I don’t know if I’ll ever move though, this house is already pretty much perfect as it is, this might be my retirement house.

I really lucked it out with the home I purchased.

I remember when I was asking my mom for advice when it came to buying a house, she told me that her first house she bought was one that needed to be repaired.

Some repairs are fine, but there are just some things you want to make sure the home already has. The main issue her first home had was HVAC issues. The home was completely messed up and outdated heating and air conditioning wise. The actual air conditioning device was messed up and really old. So my mom had a heating and air conditioning professional come out and remove the unit. She was just going to have another central air conditioner put in its place, but that is when she got even more bad news, and that was that the ductwork needed to be replaced as well. All in all, it would have cost several thousand dollars to have everything repaired, so my mom opted to just get a ductless air conditioner instead. The ductless HVAC worked really well, and that is how she kept her home warm and cool. I took her advice seriously, and always made sure to check the HVAC system before buying a home. I was lucky with my first home though, because my first home already came with a brand new luxury A/C. I have my mom partially to thank for that, since she told me to get a home with functional HVAC, and that is exactly what I did.

I always worried about my one son.

He is a really bright young man, and has several talents, but some of the careers he has mentioned had me worried for his future.

He always wanted to be a singer, and while I usually strongly encourage my children to follow their dreams, not so much in this case. Even though he has talents in many other areas, singing is not one of them. He sounds similar to a sick person attempting to sing, it’s not pretty. Not only that, but the fact that being a musician comes with high competition, and usually only the best make it through, only increased my concerns. I tried to let him down gently, and let him know why it would be a bad idea. At first, he didn’t accept it very well. But later on, he agreed and told me I was right. As an adult, he decided to go into the HVAC career field, and I couldn’t improve more. HVAC specialists make a decent pay, as well as HVAC repairmen are always in high demand, so I knew he would be safe in his job prospects. But I wanted to make sure he was happy as well, and not just choosing a job to make me happy. Thankfully, he did enjoy repairing heating and cooling systems, and did enjoy his job as a HVAC specialist overall. As an adult, he later told me he was glad I convinced him out of being a musician, because he couldn’t imagine embarrassing himself in front of everyone.

I have some really interesting friends.

My friends and I can be very different in beliefs, but we also share a lot of common hobbies.

In my friend group of 3 other people, I usually have a great time gaming with all of them, or even going to a bar. At one point when all of us were talking, I mentioned how I was going to have HVAC maintenance pretty soon, because it was approaching summer, and I wanted to be prepared for the intense heat. Pretty much all of my friends looked at me like I was crazy, and they all started asking why I would bother with HVAC tune ups. I tried to explain it’s because your heating and air conditioning machine will likely last longer if you get frequent maintenance, because the A/C professional can find any issues before they become a full blown problem. This still didn’t convince my friends, and one of them told me in all of the 6 years he has had his air conditioning and heating device, he has never once had maintenance performed, and they were still working fine. Judging by their reactions, I thought that I was the crazy one, and after I went home I did a little research. I was right all along, you are supposed to have HVAC tune ups every year for optimal health of your A/C equipment. I don’t know why my friends think it is such a waste of money, but I like to consider investing in my heating and cooling machines.
