It Wasn’t Too Late

I like to have my Heating & A/C system inspected by the local Heating & A/C contractor every 6 months or so, however i preferably like to get it done in the Spring and winter season months because this is when I’m transitioning between my boiler and air conditioner.

I use this time to reset my Heating & A/C system between the seasons to make sure that everything is running efficiently, this year though, I fell behind and forgot to have my boiler inspected before the cooler weather hit! When I saw that the weather was predicted to drop significantly one week, I began to panic. I didn’t have my boiler inspected and I thought that it was going to chop down and I’d be left without heat. I didn’t know what to do because I thought that it was too late to call the local Heating & A/C contractor. I took a chance though and they were more than cheerful to repair my boiler before the temperature dropped too low. The Heating & A/C professional who came to my home assured me that this was still a wonderful time to have everything inspected because the contractor was less busy. They had completed a majority of their servicing and I wasn’t competing with all the other homes too. The Heating & A/C professional also assured me that while my timeline for Heating & A/C servicing was number one and logical, there wasn’t a time limit on having your Heating & A/C system inspected as long as it was being done. It was better to have the Heating & A/C system inspected, even if late, rather than not at all.

We Wanted a Gas Furnace

When my enjoyable friend and I got approval to build our home, my fiance as well as I were super happy to get started on the design process.

After renting for multiple years as well as then living in older homes that fit within our budget, my enjoyable friend and I knew exactly what my enjoyable friend and I wanted as well as what my enjoyable friend and I didn’t want! One of the top things my enjoyable friend and I wanted for our modern cabin was a private gas line that allowed us to run our furnace off of gas.

Most people my enjoyable friend and I knew were afraid of using gas to heat their cabin because of the carbon dioxide risk. My enjoyable friend and I however, were cheerful at using gas to heat our cabin over electricity! Electricity was an efficient way to heat as well as cool any cabin as well as there were legitimately less risks, however my enjoyable friend and I wanted to use gas for a actually unique reason. In this area, my enjoyable friend and I experience a lot of winter time storms that leave us without power, however periodically, the power has been out for multiple afternoons as well as we’re left with no heat! Having a furnace that ran off of gas would allow us to continue heating our cabin during these power outages unlike an electric heater. A gas furnace would also sizzling our cabin faster as well as stronger than an electric furnace. Unfortunately, electric heating systems are cheaper to install, however my enjoyable friend and I were willing to spend the cash upfront in order to reap the benefits later. Thankfully, our contractor understood why my enjoyable friend and I were adamant about installing a gas line for our gas furnace as well as she was actually helpful in making these arrangements for us.

Life change brings HVAC accountability

But I took care of that by signing up for the HVAC service plan offered by the HVAC company

It’s still sort of weird and something that takes getting accustomed to when you’re suddenly living without your partner. But that’s what seemed to be best for my husband and I. Once the kids were out of the house and it was just me and him, it was pretty obvious. There was just so much silence inside all that quality heating and air in our home. We did the best we could to keep busy in order not to deal with each other. Or we both stayed late inside the zone controlled HVAC of the office in order to avoid going home. Once we were honest about the situation, it was actually a relief for us both. And there was no failure to it really. I mean, we’d been great partners, raised great kids and now it was time to face that this was the limit of our relationship. So we met with a realtor and then did some projects to add value to the house before listing it. We also upgraded the HVAC equipment to the latest in residential HVAC as well. This was a big seller. Now, I’m in a small 2 bedroom condo and it’s a bit weird but I’m going to be okay. It’s just funny how you don’t realize how many things your partner took care of. For instance, the HVAC equipment and upkeep is now all on me. But I took care of that by signing up for the HVAC service plan offered by the HVAC company. Still though, I have to remember to set alarms on my devices in order to get the HVAC air filter changed on time. But, I think I can handle that.

Going to the cabin this winter just got easier

This resulted in us not getting up there as much in the winter

When dad was dying, he wanted my sister and I to be sure that we kept the cabin in the family. He wasn’t so much worried about anything else really which was sort of interesting. But he was adamant that we didn’t sell the place once he was gone. Honestly, I don’t know that either my sister or myself had any thoughts like that. Some of the best memories we had of dad was him whisking us out of the central air conditioning of home and up to the cabin. Sometimes it wasn’t even the residential HVAC of the home he’d yank us out of. There were a few times it was the commercial HVAC of school that dad would pick us up and take us for a long weekend at the cabin. So while that property is worth a ton of money, I know that I never had the first thought of selling it. Besides both my sister’s kids and mine love it just like we did up there on that property. And who wouldn’t with all that perfect nature, a lake and nobody around for miles. While we didn’t entertain the thought of selling the cabin, we did want to update it a bit. And a big one was having some other source of heating up there in the winter. The wood stove cranked out the heating. But you had to get the fire going first. And that could be tricky sometimes. This resulted in us not getting up there as much in the winter. So we had a series of ductless heat pumps installed to provide a supplemental HVAC heating source. Plus, having that HVAC cooling in the dead heat of summer isn’t too bad either.

HVAC technician gave us the gift of time

Each fall, the HVAC technician comes out to the house to do the HVAC heating maintenance. This is followed each spring by the same HVAC technician coming out to do the air conditioning tune up in the spring. It’s nice to have the same HVAC professional looking after our HVAC equipment. And it really paid off as well. This past fall, the HVAC professional came to us after the HVAC maintenance to let us know that our heat pump’s days were numbered. That sort of caught us by surprise. While it was clear that the HVAC unit had been around a while, we really hadn’t done the math. We put that HVAC unit in when we bought this house. To our utter shock, that was nearly 27 years ago. So of course the HVAC equipment was about to wear out. But all those years of consistent HVAC maintenance resulted in not a single minute of down time when it came to heating and cooling. Perhaps, this is what lulled us to sleep on the HVAC equipment. Thankfully, our winter is really mild so our HVAC technician had really given us the gift of a head start when it came to the summer. We were able to get with the HVAC contractor and save up enough to pay for the new heating and cooling equipment. However, with the early heads up, we had plenty of time to get all this accomplished before the heat and humidity of the summer months set in. I promise you, there is no way I’m going into a summer like ours without a heat pump that is ready to go.

The residential HVAC comfort in my home is essential for me

At the end of the day, I for sure like coming home to see my family.

No matter what sort of mood or what sort of drama is happening, I love being with them each evening and any chance that I get.

But if I’m honest, that’s not what I’m thinking about those last few hours of the work day. My thoughts turn to the heating and cooling in my home during those hours of the day and not my family. That’s just me being honest. That said, it’s not like I’m inside the zone controlled HVAC of some fancy downtown office building. Nope, I’m out in the elements day in and day out. Now, I’m very lucky to live and work in a region where we don’t have a tough winter. While the heat pump does get called upon for HVAC heating, I’m not dealing with a bunch of snow or sub zero temperatures. Yet, coming home after being outside during a cold snap sure is nice because the smart thermostat in my house is right on time and has it nice and toasty for me. But it’s definitely the HVAC cooling in the summer that I pine for shortly after lunchtime. There are days where just being inside the construction site trailer with its little ductless heat pump just isn’t enough. So coming home on those days is the best thing. It’s almost indescribable what it feels like to simply walk inside the HVAC cooling set to just where I like it. Just don’t tell my family because I like to have them thinking that the smile on my face is really all about them.
