Just around a week ago I ended up having a conversation with a stranger that was very enlightening.

I was in the park on a nice and sunny day soaking in the sun and eating my lunch while on a break from lunch.

Midway through my lunch a stranger came up to me and asked me if I had any spare change. He seemed nice enough so I offered for him to sit down next to me and enjoy the weather we were having. After a few minutes of small talk and pleasantries I proceeded to ask the man why he needed money and this old man proceeded to inform me that he was a former HVAC repair tech who ended up having serious back problems and was no longer able to work. Because this poor fellow had worked as an HVAC man since he was sixteen years old his back problem was not going to get any better without tons of surgery and therapy which he could not afford, and he was not in a state where he could get a new job either. I felt so bad for this poor former HVAC tech that I ended up giving him half of my sandwich and even offered to put in a good word for my boss on a desk job where his back wouldn’t be much of a problem. It seems like these strange encounters happen to me more often than your average person, but if I am able to end up helping this former HVAC man out of a bad situation then it is no trouble to me.

After an extremely long week at work and getting into a bit of a verbal altercation with my boss, when the weekend rolled around all I wanted to do was get out of the city for a little bit.

My wife was already out of town on a business trip so it was all up to me as to what I was going to do.

My friend who lives outside of the city had mentioned at least a dozen times that he had a nice cabin out on thirty acres of wild land and I was more than welcome to stay there if I wanted to. Well, when I arrived it was already cold outside and I wanted to warm up. However I was surprised to find that there was no heating system in the cabin no matter where I looked. I ended up giving my friend a call to find out what the deal was with the heating situation, and this guy ended up letting me know that he had radiant floor heating. I hadn’t heard about this before, but soon I began to realize how nice it was. The cabin began to feel warmer after I got more comfortable and it was nice to not have to hear the constant grinding of the heating system like I have to at my house. After the weekend was over I was feeling quite refreshed and I was ready to get back home and attack the week and put the drama with my boss to rest. I think I will be back to my friend’s cabin soon, I sure can’t get enough of that radiant floor heating!

I hate to break it to you my son, but that’s just not possible at our house

The other day my ten year old asked me if he could spend the night at his best friend’s house. His best friend had spent the night over at our house quite a few times over the years, however this was going to be the first time that he was going to be spending the night away from us. When he returned the next morning, this kid literally couldn’t stop talking about how nice the air conditioning was at his friend’s house. We live in an extremely old house that was built long before state of the art air conditioning systems were around, so I guess he just isn’t used to having A/C at his disposal all day which is far from reality out at our place during the summer months. He was going on and on about how nice it felt to come home to ice cold air after running around outside all day and he slept the best he had ever slept before because apparently his friend keeps it a chilly 65 degrees in the room. I hate to break it to you my son, but that’s just not possible at our house. Perhaps I can get my son a window air conditioning unit that we could use during the summer months, but I am sure that will pale in comparison to what his friends’ parents have. Oh well, we can’t always have what we want and I guess this is my son’s first lesson with that. At least he had a great time at his first sleepover!

The other day my girlfriend called me and told me that the air conditioning isn’t working.

At the time I was in the middle of an extremely busy day at work and I still had an even busier second half to my workday.

My girlfriend works from our home office, so not having access to any air conditioning during the warm summer season was not going to be ideal. She would be sweaty and uncomfortable, and I would be dealing with a grumpy girlfriend. During my lunch break I decided to call my buddy Lester to see if he was free. Lester is our neighbor in our building that used to work as an HVAC repair tech before he retired a couple of years ago. Despite the fact that he is an older gentleman he is still in very good health and is always willing to help out. After giving him a call he said to not worry about it and he would help my girlfriend out with the A/C situation. After getting back from being at work all day I came to find a very happy girlfriend and a well running air conditioning unit. Apparently it only took Lester a few minutes to fix up the problem, and now he is going to be having dinner with us tonight. It was a stressful day for both me and my girlfriend, but I sure am thankful that our boy Lester was able to come to the rescue.

Over the summer, our air conditioning went out a couple of times when we did not have electricity. All of us have been having a lot of power outages in our neighborhood, and we decided that we were sick and fatigued of being without air conditioning for any length of time so that’s why we ended up buying a generator. However, now that it’s winter, we realized that the generator is not only fine for the air conditioning during the summer! It’s been entirely chilly around here this winter. It’s genuinely been one of the coldest winters that we have had on record. The un-even temperatures have been in the teens more afternoons than I can count, and a lot of times we have been dealing with single digits. That’s pretty chilly for around here. I usually do not mind the chilly so much, however with the power going out all the time, the chilly has entirely been an issue for us. However, Last month when the power went out, we did not have any trouble with it at all because we had our fantastic generator. Even though almost everyone else in the neighborhood was chilly and trying to heat their homes with their wood burning fireplaces, we did not have that problem at all. My partner just went outside to the carport and turned our generator on. All of us were just as cozy as we always are. I am entirely thankful that we have that generator to run our heating plan with so that we do not have to worry about getting too chilly in our house. I think we will always have a generator now, just for the gas furnace if for no other reason!

My partner entirely hates the loud noise that her gas furnace makes, however I like it, then every winter, I entirely look forward to hearing the loud whooshing sound of our gas furnace when it kicks on, especially in the middle of the night.

I think that the sound of the gas furnace makes our home recognize moderate and cozy when the weather outside is entirely awful.

I like to hear the sound of the heating when it kicks on. It makes myself and others tired and it also just makes myself and others want to hibernate underneath the covers in our bed. My partner just doesn’t appreciate background noise, and that’s the only reason that he does not appreciate it… Our heating plan works completely fine. The only thing that’s wrong with it is the way that it sounds. And in our opinion, that is not even a problem at all. I personally like to hear any kind of background noise.I like listening to the rain beating on the roof, I like listening to the highway go by when I am sleeping in the car, and I most especially loved our entirely loud gas furnace! When our partner told myself and others that he was thinking about replacing our gas furnace, we genuinely got into a fight over it! I entirely do not want a newer, quieter heating plan in our house. When we were fighting about it, I made it sound appreciate I just thought it was a waste of money, but the actual truth is that I do not want a new heating plan because I believe that it will not be loud anymore.
