I entirely liked going to the mailbox while in the summer time for the first time last year.

Selling a apartment is not an easy thing to do in any circumstance.

But when it’s the first time you’ve done it after living more than 30 years in the same location, it’s a drastic undertaking.

Honestly, I certainly didn’t know where to begin. After spending several hours inside the central air conditioning of study room discussing the pros plus cons of selling, my buddy and I finally decided to sell. Thankfully, my buddy and I have a great neighbor who is one of the best realtors in this region. It was just so nice that my buddy and I were able to trust someone considering that my buddy and I certainly did not know where to beginning or what to do. The first thing our neighbor did was walk through pointing out all the great things inside our house. That is a truly professional plus respectful way to beginning that process. Because before long, my buddy and I had to get down to what needed to be changed. One of those things was obviously replacing the residential Heating as well as Air Conditioning. Sadly, my husband and I have been having furnace issues for the past couple of months.

We thought that we fixed whatever was wrong with it, but it started happening again last week, so we aren’t sure what it wrong with our furnace.

My husband replaced a part a few weeks ago, and the issues seem to be resolved, but it must not have been what was wrong. My husband has a friend who works in the HVAC industry, and he is going to ask him to come over and look at our furnace tomorrow. The furnace randomly turns off, and it does not fire back up unless we go downstairs and manually turn it back on. We aren’t sure if it is the thermostat or the furnace itself. I wish that one of us knew more about HVAC units, but neither of us paid attention when our fathers tried to teach us. We both regret our decisions now. Both of our fathers were great at fixing just about anything HVAC related. They have both passed away now, so we can’t call them for advice. I guess my husband’s friend is our last hope. My husband and I are both afraid that we are going to have to get a new furnace. If it comes down to having to buying a new furnace than, of course, we will, but we really hope that it is a smaller fixable issue. Thankfully, we have enough money in savings to buy a new furnace if that is necessary. We really wanted to use that money to fix our vehicle though, so we hope the furnace doesn’t take up all of our savings.

I really love to shop at family owned stores.

For some reason, the people that work at family owned places seem to actually like their jobs.

They are so much nicer and more caring in my experience. My husband agrees with me. We do most of our grocery shopping as well as other shopping at local, family owned businesses. I was a little disappointed the other day in one of our local stores though. It is a second hand store about three blocks from our house. I go there every couple of days to see if they have anything new that I might need. I went in there on Tuesday, and I found a space heater for sale that was still in the box. I was super excited when I saw it because I had been wanting a space heater for my husband’s and my bedroom. It is not cold in our bedroom, but it is also not as warm as I would prefer it to be. I want to run a space heater in there just at night time. I am pretty sure that it will help me sleep better. Well, I bought that space heater that I found, and I was assured by one of the employees there that it had been tested and that it worked perfectly fine. Unfortunately, I plugged it in and turned it on, but nothing happened. It didn’t work at all. I tried to take it back, but they refused to let me return it because they said that they knew for sure that it worked when they sold it to me. Let’s just say that I won’t be going back to that store anytime soon.

I miss my dad so much.

• He passed away back in 2007, and I cannot tell you how hard it has been without him in my life.

He was my everything. He taught me all that I know. He was always teaching. Everything that he did with us kids was a lesson, but he made it fun. Because of him, I love to learn and to work with my hands. I am so grateful that I had such a wonderful father and role model in my life. My dad was an HVAC technician by trade, but he could do just about anything. He did teach all of us children about HVAC work though. I got to go with him on many service calls, and he would teach me all about how furnaces and air conditioners work. I just loved it. I wish I remembered even half of what I learned, but I am thankful that I knew enough to be able to fix my own furnace. I did get a little help from my husband, but I was able to diagnose the problem, and I knew how to fix it as well. I credit that all to my amazing dad. I wouldn’t know the first thing about fixing a furnace if it weren’t for his devoted teaching and patience. I am definitely not as good as he was though. My mom told me the other day that her thermostat was giving her trouble, and I went over there to look at it, but I could not figure out what the problem was. If my dad was still here, there is no doubt in my mind that he would already have that thermostat working properly again. I miss him so much!

I love to cook and bake.

It is just my thing.

My kids know to look for me in the kitchen because that is where I am most of the time. My mom did not do much cooking for us as children. My dad cooked a little bit, but we mostly ate frozen dinners and such things. I really did not want my kids to grow up eating junk like that, so I taught myself how to cook and bake when I was a teenager. I fell in love with it and started creating my own recipes. I have written over one hundred recipes so far, and I plan on continuing. The only time that I used to have trouble cooking and baking was in the summertime. My kitchen would get so hot that I just could not stand to be in there. I kept telling myself that I was going to buy an air conditioner for the kitchen, but I never did. I think that I complained to my husband enough that he decided to get me one. He got home from work a few nights ago, and he had an air conditioner with him. I was surprised at first, and I asked him what the air conditioner was for. He thought that I was just picking, so he didn’t answer me. I asked again, and he was surprised that I didn’t know. He told me that it was for the kitchen, and I literally screamed with excitement. I have been using the air conditioner for the past couple of days, and wow, it makes cooking and baking during the hot summer months so much easier.
