Like many people, I also come up with several new year’s resolutions. One of my resolutions this year is to join a gym to lose a few pounds. I asked my friend to take me gym hunting around town. The gym, twenty minutes from my house, had great equipment, and there were gym assistants that sanitized equipment as soon as a client finished using the equipment. The fantastic air quality drew me to the gym thanks to the new air conditioning system. I had been to many gyms in the past. I hated how hot and murky it got in the gym because of an inadequate air conditioner. I had taken my vacation days and decided to visit a friend who lived in a beach town.
He had a fantastic beachfront house and a beautiful family. My friend had built his air conditioning business from the ground up. The firm had grown into a successful air conditioning company that created jobs for some in the area. They offered a/c care plans such as air conditioning maintenance, installation, and so much more. Before he started his own business, he worked for an air conditioning supplier where they previously lived. He has conducted many a/c cares in his career. Due to his business, my friend, Roger, was quite popular in town. He also had two shops spread in town. The company also trained a/c workers. A/c service that saved a work party
The last end-of-year party started worse than the other parties.
Just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, I heard one of the men say that he had heard that the air conditioner was not working.
It was only a matter of time before people started leaving using the poor indoor air quality as an excuse. There was no a/c representative that would be available for a/c service that late. I was still determined to have a good time, but it was impossible since there was no party spirit. It all felt like a business meeting. When I saw our boss approaching us, I knew it would only be downhill from there. The shocking thing was she wanted to know what she could do to turn it into the wild parties they had in the eighties. I have worked for the family business my entire adult life. I had gradually gone up the ranks and was finally the managing director. The manager had called the office and scheduled a much-needed a/c service where thorough air conditioning maintenance would reveal any underlying issue. A turn for the worst especially for a/c care
Standing in the parking area of the building that houses the air conditioning business enjoying a popsicle, I still could not come to terms with the turn of events. A year ago, I was on the same spot debating whether to get a new air conditioning filter or pay for a/c repair because I could not afford both. I had long neglected a/c care because I couldn’t even afford the basic a/c service. The only reason I was even giving the air conditioner the time of day with my situation back then was that I was living with my sister, who was only seven years old. If I were living alone at the time, I would probably have switched off the air conditioner installation to reduce my energy bill. Anything that had to do with the air conditioning company or did not feel like a basic need took the back banner. It is funny how lack of money shortens your list of basic needs, even things you previously thought you couldn’t live without, seeming like a waste of money.
